I just recently discovered God's gift to me...it's more of a gift than a talent though. I'll still share it :-) On our missions trip I really discovered that God gave me a compassionate heart for people. I've always had such a soft heart towards pe…

Wow, Suzanna, how interesting!! I can imagine that it must be very difficult to take care of so many rescue birds. My mother-in-law has rescued birds and other creatures whose owners have just let them go, not realizing that domestic animals often c…

Do you think Sarah broke the law of not working on the Sabbath when she helped Grant to set up his own garden? Do you think that this was an act of service? How do Sarah’s growing feelings for Grant factor into her decision?

AN AMISH GATHERING

Just completed "An Amish Gathering" Novella by Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller and Barbara Cameron. Novella's I think are fun and I like to see how the author's are going to tie in the characters from one story to the next and finally to the last one.

July Member of the Month, Lisa Gill!

Please join us in congratulating the July Member of the Month, Lisa Gill!

Bio:
My name is Lisa Gill and I am 49 years young. I live in the mountains of Pennsylvania. My husband and I will be celebrating our 30th anniversary on July 4th! I have four wonderful children, two girls and two boys and one beautiful granddaughter. Our pets include one dog (a Dalmatian), two cats, three birds, and a hamster. My most favorite hobby is reading! I like reading Amish fiction, Christian romance fiction, and Historical fiction. My most favorite time period to read about is the 1800’s. My second favorite hobby is cooking. I like trying new casserole recipes for supper and I love making dessert recipes. Some other favorite hobbies I enjoy are nature walks, playing computer games, and playing board games with my family.

Fun Facts:
When I was growing up I was a baton twirler and majorette. I could twirl two batons and I also twirled a fire baton. I went to competitions and won a few trophies and medals at the competitions. I was a majorette for my Junior High School. By the time I entered Senior High School I decided to drop out of baton so I wasn’t a majorette for my Senior High.

When my husband and I were first married we traveled and lived in different areas of the United States. We left Pennsylvania and lived in Arizona, Kentucky, and then Florida. Now we are living back in Pennsylvania. I loved the different scenery in Arizona, the wonderfully nice people in Kentucky, and the sunshine in Florida. It was a lot of fun traveling around but I’m glad to be settled back in my home state of Pennsylvania.

Just this past May I went on my very first airplane trip! I was scared and excited at the same time! My family and I flew to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. We really had a fun time. I survived the plane ride there and back home. It was an exciting experience for me to be able to fly in a plane. I’m glad we had nice weather for the flights and had a smooth ride. I think I would have been scared if the weather would have been bad and the flight would have been rough.

Special Thanks:
I am so glad everyone likes the Amish Recipe Group at Amish Living! I think the Amish Living website is a great place for people to be able to share their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. Thank you Amish Living for creating a wonderful website!
